Blogging is hard, y’all.
I started last year off with a bang on my blog, but then I realized so much of my writing time was being taken up with blogging that I hadn’t written as much as I should have on the book I was in the middle of writing. So I took a break in order to finish my third book, Waiting For August.
My goal was to be done with the writing portion by now. But my personal deadlines for this book keep being pushed it back. So starting off this year, I felt like a cloud hanging over me that I couldn’t get passed while setting goals for 2019.
Most of my goals this year have rolled over from last year, and I thought maybe it was because I wasn’t motivated or focused.
Then I decided, that’s okay. It’s okay to have roll over goals. It’s okay to have one big goal. It’s all okay. Planning is better than not planning. If we didn’t have the goals, then we would get nowhere near as far as we have gotten.
Do you have some goals on your list that have rolled over from 2018? Let me encourage you that it’s okay! You’re still working toward the goal. You haven’t given up. Forward motion is still motion! You can do this!
(Good news! I did it! The first week of the year, I finished the first draft of Waiting For August! You can read about it on my Instagram.)
In the midst of my goal reevaluation, I realized how much I missed blogging and connecting with you all. You are important to me. I couldn’t be the writer I am without readers just like you.
I’m recommitting to you, my blog readers.
God has been working on me recently to step out and talk about more than books. He’s pushing me out of my comfort zone, as He is so good at doing, to write and speak about some things that I am passionate about: parenting, family, and helping other writers.
I’ve dabbled in this some here on the blog, as you know, but its time for me to get serious about sharing some of the tough stuff on my heart. It’s been stirring in me for long enough, now it’s time for me to share it all with you.
What will that look like, you ask? Especially since I’m never going to stop talking about books or writing them!
My blog will become a bit more diverse, and just so you are prepared (and so I have added accountability from you!) my monthly blog schedule will look like this:
- Week 1 of each month: Reading Wrap Up (micro reviews of the books I read the month before so you’ll know what great books to pick up)
- Week 2 of each month: Parenting Pieces (I will never claim to know it all….After all, my eldest is only 12. But I certainly know that we parents are all going through this together, learning together and from each other, so I will share what I’m learning and what is burning inside my soul to share with other parents!)
- Week 3 of each month: Write, Write, Write (I will share my writing process, why I write, what I’ve learned in my years of writing and publishing, etc. 80% of people say they want to write a book someday, so this is for many of you!)
- Week 4 of each month: Inspiration and Motivation (I think that speaks for itself!)
I look forward to seeing you here each week. My goal is to create a community where we can learn and grow together! I hope that you comment along the way and share what speaks to you.
