He was wrong for her. And her heart longed for someone else. But could she pull herself away?

To Jade Hart, being in love with Freddie meant he could fix the hurts of her past and fill the inadequacies she felt in the present.

Until he hits her. And she realizes everything about herself has changed.

There’s only one person who could make Jade feel safe again. Ryan Parker. The guy who broke her heart but never left her thoughts. What if he doesn’t want her now that she is damaged and broken? What if she has changed too much to ever be who she was with Ryan?

As much as Freddie terrifies her, he fascinates her. He’s her drug. The only thing she is more afraid of than Freddie is being alone.

Will she ever feel the necessity – the urgency – to rid herself of her aching addiction to him?

Where do I even begin? This book is such a spot-on account of the psychological and emotional manipulation that takes place in an abusive relationship–and not to mention the process of realizing that you’re in such a situation. The shame, the denial, the shutting-out of people who love you and whom you love. All I can really say is I wish I’d read it fifteen years ago. I would recommend this to book to anyone. Must read.
